Imagine this 🧠

eight years ago, I found myself standing at a crossroads as a Senior in college with three corporate job offers in my hand. Grateful, of course. But truly unsure of what to pursue. Instead of playing it safe (like 99% of business school grads), I turned down the full-time jobs and threw caution to the wind. I stumbled upon a 10-person InsurTech startup in Philly, interviewed with 3 of the coolest people I've ever met (shoutout Pierre, Jamie, and Jeff ❤️), and accepted an internship on the spot for $16 an hour.

 

Spoiler alert 🚨: it turned out to be one of the best decisions I ever made.

Fast forward to today, and I've amassed a treasure trove of experiences in the tech and startup world:

  • From Startup Struggles to Success Stories: I've weathered the storm in startups like Life.io and Curalate, where I learned firsthand that the path to success is paved with equal parts hustle and heartache. But let me tell you, there's nothing more exhilarating than seeing your blood, sweat, and tears pay off in the form of a game-changing exit.

  • Navigating the Corporate Maze: At HGS Digital, I played a number of roles in a short amount of time -- Channel Sales guru, Strategic Partnerships wizard, Sales Enablement maestro—you name it. It's been a wild ride, navigating the labyrinth of corporate life while still staying true to my startup roots.

  • Getting Acq. by Twitter: Going 0-1 at Laskie: Joining Laskie as employee #6 was my absolute dream job. I got my Masters degree working underneath 2 superstars, Chris Bakke and Daniel O'Shea. It was like strapping into a rocket ship bound for the stars -- we grew from 6 to 60 in a year, and ended getting a call from the one and only Elon Musk. Yep, you read that right—Laskie (now X Hiring) was acquired by X (fka Twitter) in early 2023. Laskie remains X's only acquisition underneath Elon Musk's leadership.

  • Charting New Territories at Kharon: Post-acquisition, I found myself searching for my next adventure and ended up at the helm of Kharon's Strategic Partnerships Program. I joined Kharon because it's a very unique company - it's founded by former high-level government officials from the US Dept. of Treasury, OFAC, and the Intelligence Community and they conduct open-source research to gather valuable research on risk-related networks around the world.

  • Venturing into Mergers & Acquisitions: having contributed to 3 tech startup acquisitions, I'm entering a new world that is oddly familiar to me. In June 2024, I joined Align Business Advisory Services which is an M&A Advisory Firm that brings Wall Street resources to Main Street - aka the tower-middle-market (<$200m ent. value). As an M&A Partner Exec, I'm focused on building a deep network of trusted partners in M&A across the United States - think Attorneys, Wealth Managers, CPAs. At the end of day, we're helping business owners get what they deserve and achieve life-changing exits.
